Hi Sniper, i would gladly know how and why you do hard brake in,and your resaults after.
I am an professional engineer and working with engines daily, and i never heard or learned to brake in hard, this will cause damage to your engine in all ways.( i can if you want explain excactly why and how,but it wil be a long explanation :) ) I will not recomend to do it, but follow your bike manual, i have done it and my engine runs just like an professional engineer wants it to run, PERFECT.

I read another story on T135Forum about a American engineer who recomend hard brake in , and his recomendations is wrong,we all had an big laugh about him in my work place.

as per my cousins and uncles (both of them are mech) they also recommend the hard break-in technic.don't baby your engine, but dont abuse it either hehe.as per they're experience run it hard in short burst at almost full throttle (provided the engine is properly warmed up) in low gear and when slowing down shift it to high gear for engine brake.really makes sense to me when i read motomans principle.

Heard also a lot of debate or controversial argument about what motoman said. :) :)

But when reading more about hard break in. S'times it makes sense to me as we know what is our bike for. If we really want it work to its full extent, so then let the bike parts inside the engines get to know each other in a hard way, including all parts coefficient when heated and having frictions all together.

The interesting thing is that we should initially change the oil two or three times after the procedures.

We can try but coz we also willing to accept the consequences.

Cmon guys, give your self a try hahaha :) :)

Hmm, very strange that Yamaha recomend something thats not good for the engines and also all other engine manufactorer also do recomend the same as Yamaha and also all school books recomend?
You really belive on all what Americans writing on the net? Have you ever heard about some good americans bike engines,LOL, i guess not.
If you have knowledge you will know what happends if your brake in hard, do you really know it?
You must give the parts time to fit eachother before you can push fully load on them, or else you can get metal rip off from cylinder walls, piston and rings, this because the parts have not been fully fitted to eachother and the contact surfaces are sill rough, this can couse the rough surface to brake the oilfilm on cylinder walls and you will get metal to metal contact and some metal will be ripped off and makes scars.

Have you all read and understood fully out Motomans explanation?
He have some funny ideas, just look on his page and you will se he wrote this too: "Smaller Intake Ports Gain 7 % More Power" So then i suggest you all who belive Motoman will remove one of your exhaust valve and on of your inlet valve and you all get 7% ore power,LOL, just try and see what happends :)

I just try to help you all, but its up to you if you want to damage your engines or not. I dont say the engines wil be so damaged that it will not run after hard brake in, but you will for sure shorten the life of your engines a lot.
Sniper, i have brake in my bike just after the Yamaha book and mine is still the fast 135km\h (real km\h) i think is your riding styles that makes your bike faster, you probably ride like me, high rpm, fast acceleration and fast, right? I noticed everytime i come home from work(i work 5 week on\5week off) the bike is slower and its because my girlfriend has ride it and she rides slowly and no high rpm, so the engines get moore sooted inside, so i need a god day to blow and burn out this soot ad then the bike is good again.

Maybe i should explain in an easy way, come home from work and jump on your girlfriend and try to dry F... her and you will get the resaults, try instead to warm her up and get her W.. and you will get an another reaction. Maybe a bad comparison but tru :)

all my friends are fast riders.. always reving high.. like me.. their riding skills are just like mine.. but my bike is always faster than them.. even we switch bike.. i used my 1st bike for 4 years (sold already now im using a sniper) and always used for racing.. and i never experienced a blown engine.. but my friends bike blown his engine twice! he used an easy break-in.. we also tried switching engine block, theie bike run faster using my engine block..

Bro it's simple. hard break in will mean a faster engine, yes. but results in a shorter life of engine and internal parts. an easy break in means longer life of engine and parts, it may not have the same fast performance, but it will run longer than the other guys that did do a hard break in.

in racing, V. Rossi's team rebuilds the engine ever time after a race, why? because after the engine is rebuilt the engine is broken in hard. it wears out the life of the engine, that's why all racing teams have to rebuild the engine after a race. Its a short life span with hard break In's. in may not happen to you now. but some day your bike with blow out.

it's always best to follow the safety rules. that's why Yamaha made a break in Manuel for our bike's, FOR SAFETY AND LONG LIFE!

you should not risk your life by driving like a mad man. you only have one life. Ride safe, not fast!

Bro, personally i love to run fast. but I know life is short enough as it is. I have three kids and a beautiful wife. I, I don't want to have something happen to me and them get stuck living the rest of their lives knowing i was too stupid by driving my bike too fast and unsafe just because it's fun. Even my two life insurance policy's isn't going to make up the difference in there lives.

P.S. Sorry to all the members that have to hear me preach. i'm in one of my moods, hehehe

........i have a question..

.............is it ok to break in if you have a smooth ride like there's no one on the streets, because when I'm going to work @ night less cars and vehicles are on the streets so it means that i can go to 40KPH - 80KPH, same as I go home @ morning... but still safety first like helmet and full concentration on my driving.....

just follow d breakin process in the owners manual, just dont baby the engine so much, u can go past the mauals recomedation in how u use the throttle but just in short bursts dont let ur engine stay in high rpm for a long time. this method worked for me got my bike to go as fast as 130kph but thats with a downhill slope already lol, or you can do the hard breakin as well your choice bro

Yeah, I followed the manual and my top speed is 120 with head wind against me.

Very poor top speed.... MY top speed 145kph in just 2.7 kms straight!!!! Rossi's bike uses a special racing parts and materials. It will directly adopts the hard breaking and all parts are fitted each other.
