Converting Foot Brake To Hand Brake - Is It Safe?

Hi Guys,.. need you inputs, a long long time ago :D maybe 3 years ago, I saw a bike here converted the foot brake to hand brake, and I've got the idea that since my bike is A/C I decided to convert it to hand brake just like a MIO (both are hand brake), the question is.... MIO does not have clutch so it is safe.. what about on sniper which is using clutch specially on me that using A/C..

is it safe? BTW I already convert mine but not yet tested because something happen on my wire and battery and need to check because bike died after a few minutes of starting.. only my bro tried to drive it

Paps me co-worker ako wave 100r motmot nya naka hand break yung disckbreak nya sa likod. Ask ko sya dati ok naman daw ang result sa kanya... d ko lang alam satin ksi mawawala yung foot break pedal parang angsagwa..just my opinion.. hehehehe.. tingnan na lang natin ang sasabihin ng ibang mga masters..

Sir, i have a friend using honda xrm and he also converted his rear drum brake to hand brake. He doesnt have any complain on the conversion that he did.Anyway, he did that because he converted his mc to rear set and the foot brake s to weak. :)

I saw this kind of modification on sir wingman's bike...
(rear diskbrake and converted to handbrake)...

according to him it's more comfortable in cornering if you use handbrake.
haven't tried it but want to do the same mods. to test if its true...
hahahaha...

You can ask bombay, he is the one converted the footbrake of wingman_44 sniper to handbrake and he also using disc brake.

Please check link below, do note with the rear disc brake and the foot pedal(wala na silbi foot brake pedal kundi pang balance sa paa).:D

@bandido - yes sir I already converted it, and now I ask my friend to buy me again a long braided hose for spare :)

@sir traxxx - thanks for the input sir :) I am now excited to use my bike but still wire/electric is not yet done :( I need a good electrician


@jangbest - left hand brake can be bought in caloocan ..courtesy of my friend :) but the problem is.. it is hard to find an aftermarket left lever so I guess I need to replace may after market right hand brake to stock(black color) or let it be :D (chapsuey look hahaha - orange and black :D )

I already source this kind of lever (lefthand after market) but it can only but on china :( (online) brand what I had found is maxi - same lever .. or there is also RACING BOY left and right lever with brake fluid (left is for clutch) but I believe can be use also for handbrake but very PRICEY that cost around 8500.00 PHP :(

@blade135 - yes sir I saw it on the bike of Sir wingman that's why I got this idea to convert mine

my mild problem now is.. I used RB swingarm and the bracket of my caliper is on yoshimura foot peg.. when my bike bump.. the brake caliper also bump :D , I guess we need to find a better location for the braket

@jangbest - it will not cost that much on the parts if you like :) you can find it on sulit (left lever) but costly, and you can only find long hose(rubber only) same seller and costly too.. if you want I can ask my friend to buy extra again when they will go back to caloocan, I already ask him to buy me spare for long braided hose because, stock is limited and some of dirt bikers also convert their bike as the seller told him :) .."ubusan ng stock ng long braided hose"


btw - I am using brembo caliper and rear disc brake :) ..just fund around 2k (max price for lever and hose and labor hehehe may sukli pa yan promise) as long as you are already converted or using rear disc brake, so easy to install ..plug and play and a little brain twister on how will you put the hose inside the body artistically (kikay hehehe)
