How to: SQUISHBAND your engine

@paradox : 100% correct.. i stand for SANDBLAST texture polish.. (something like #1000 abrasive paper)

Mirror finish is the way to go.
FYI FI engines have a plastic sleeve through the ports to give the smoothest flow without high undulations or high spots.

LoL.. it's kinda like Republican and Democrat party here.. let's vote then..hahahahah... peace :mrgreen:
i dunno maybe different experience.. IMHO mirror finish gave me fuel spots due to smooth finish gives less turbulence.. smooth is good but i prefer textured to promote swirl and turbulence.. to test this.. get into ur car.. bring a mirror and a smoothly textured surface.. let it out of the window for a while (have ur friend to do this and on less dense road).. drive about 30-50 kph while its a bit raining.. see which gets most wet... textured surface breaks the water droplets to smaller droplets.. while mirror just splashes.. as for fuel injection i think it doesnt require much texture coz the fuel already atomized and "injected" instead of "sucked" by piston movement..

To prove my point.. hi end carbs like TM28-1 has an "atomizer" with rough surface to promote better fuel atomization.. take a look at that yellowish thing on the spigot of the carb..

Here's the link courtesy of our friend vnduck.. The TM28-1..

guys, i ride my friend's bike with bigger bore 61mm piston, 0.3 head shaved but he still using oem carby, what i can feel is the bike running smoothly (but engine sound quite hard) compared to mind with d-slide carburetor...

is this because round slide carb. character?

Haen - Agreed on the smooth port part.
But please note that on F1 engines, since they have a completely downdraft port they run a plastic inset through the ports to make the surface as smooth as possible.

however on sidedraft ports like the Vixion/T135, a textured port makes sense. So the texturing or smoothening part is based on the type of port as well.

its like a knocking sound, here and there....but while riding..the engine very smooth and soft feelings...

1st thing you have to know is, gasket is a mechanical seal that fills the space between two objects, generally to prevent leakage between the two objects while under compression.
2nd if you remove it, can it increase compression while your block already leaking? huhu
compression happens only on the top gasket.
lower gasket dont have compression as its only sealer.
its safe to remove the bottom gasket.

yes a bit something like that..

thanks justkir
if tik tik sound on idle but the sound is gone on rpm increased
that sound is timing chain bro...
(see service manual)

what you need to do is adjust the timing chain tensioner

1. TURN the chain tensioner full compression (CLOCKWISE) using small flat short screw driver

2. once fully compressed, release it.

3. run your engine and see if it still have sound.

4. it still has sound, adjust it (counter clockwise)
very very small turn at a time only until sound is gone.

i have done my port n shaved my block, my timing chain i set just like an ori setting ang once i start it sound like a knocking valve anyone can tell me how to set my timing chain marking and after i did my mod white smoke comes out from my exhaust..... tell me how to solve it

@project : white smoke ? check : valve exhaust clearance (too tight), valve stem seal, piston ring, top gasket, flatness of head assy, oil viscosity.. CMIIW

ok thanx bro i will check it, i'd already test my bike its seem to be in a very satisfied condition just the smoke come out made me cncern a little bit hopefully it works

white smoke most likely color of oil burning...?

did you remove and clean the piston RINGs ?
its might be piston rings were not properly installed...

improper installation of rings like inverted installation
wont scrape off oil thus rings were not working its designed for...

most reason why smoke appears after the installation of piston ring
is not correct installation of ring.
Wrong orders or installed inverted

Formula confuse...

haen said:
100% correct mr. Paradox :

Let's refresh..
The static formula for computing compression ratio is :

CR = CV + CCV / CCV

CR = Compression Ratio
CCV = Combustion Chamber Volume --> the hardest part, any slight changes in the head / piston crown could make calculation harder so the best is using burette filled with liquid parafin

Assuming the pistons are flat top, formula for the volume above the piston is :

V= phi x D^2 x H / 4000

phi = 3.1416, D= diameter of the bore (mm), H= clearance between piston crown and block deck (mm)

Things to remember :

Higher comp = higher temps --> affecting valve durability
Higher comp = higher bearings load

road engine --> 9.5 - 10.5 : 1 ratio
racing engine --> 11 - 12.5 : 1 ratio
Sorry, I'm a little bit confuse here... I thought the formula to calculate a cylindrical Volume was:
V = ¶ x r² x H
V = Volume (Cylindrical)
¶ = phi (3.1415926535897932384626433832795)
r = radius of the cylinder
H = height of the cylinder

Conversion Unit: 1cc = 1cm³ = 1.000mm³
So i thought the formula to calculate a cylindrical volume from mm unit to cc in volume unit should become (correct me if i'm wrong):
V = ¶ x r² x H / 1.000

My question is based on what conversion unit / maybe some trick formula calculation, u got the divider 4000 (V= phi x D^2 x H / 4000) from? is it because of the dome shaped from the Head? please enlighten me...

Sorry for the stupid question from a newbie here :oops:

@dms5 : yeah thanks for reminding.. that's if u use the standard V=phi x (r)^2 x H / 1000 but.. if u want to use diameter.. its V= phi x (1/2D) ^ 2 x H / 1000 divided by 4000 if u don't divide the D first by 2... remember (1/2) ^ 2 * 1/1000... it's a basic math bro..

Example :

for vixion block :

Diameter formula

V= 3,1416 x (57 mm) ^ 2 x 58,7 mm = 599154,32808 / 4000 = 149,78858202 cc

Radius formula

r = 1/2 D = 1/2 x 57 mm = 28,5 mm

so..

V=3,1416 x (28,5 mm) ^ 2 x 58,7 mm = 149788,58202 / 1000 = 149,78858202 cc

tell me.. isn't it the same result ?

tell me please..is it same if i shave the another side of block [lower side] with 1mm as 1mm shaved on the upper side [piston] block? thanks
