is it ok to remove the air filter of my the sniper???

i just want to ty if is it ok to remove the air box, so there is more power and acceleration.. but what bothers me most is the rpm limiter,, it is kinda strick.. i cant squeeze the extra power because of the stock cdi limiter.

for me removing air filter for daily service use is BAD.
your engine will breath lots of dirts.

why not try removing the snorkel of your airfilter just like carltobeza did.
its easy to remove and put it back if you want.

its not recommended to remove the air filter coz dust will go inside the engine and will make a bad effect later. I suggest you keep the engine intact and other components except for the exhaust pipe. changing to a good exhaust will give you more power. for pick up, better change to a bigger rear sprocket.

i tried removing the snorkle,, and it made a big difference,, unlike before.. but the filter system is still intact,, nice to hear from you guys..

nice knowing that we are of help..one of my friend mechanic said that yamaha mc has small snorkel meaning little entry of air..as you take out the snorkle, more air will enter so it also means more power. The engine is not suffocated anymore because you remove the snorkel. Our carb is a diaphragm type so it means that the power of our mc depends on the air that enters to our engine. IMO

please speak in english sir for the convenience of our fellow forumers..by the way, snorkel is a rubber thing located at the top cover of the airbox..in the service manual, it is called duct..you can remove it through forcing it out because it has a rugby on it..

To all who have tried this set-up...please give some feedback so that others who havent tried this will know..

By the way, removing snorkel is more efficient when you have good pipe and no limiter cdi just like REXTOR CDI (pm bro traxxas for the cdi :lol: )..

i took out my whole filter last time n juz left the cover open b4 i started modying anything... i juz spend quite a lot of time finding 4 the perfect setting n zoom zoom, my performance increased tremendously!!! but i oni use my bike 4 short distance travelling so removing my air filter wouldn't do any harm, 4 those long distance travellers i dun think its a good idea, haha... peace =p

Hi lc ...mine too , but i can't find good setting , could you give me your setting, ie. pilot jet / main jet size & air-screw turns ?

eee, tinok, really sorry but i 4got the setting d... it was bout half a year ago, juz b patient n spend the whole day wif ur bike n waste a few tanks of petrol juz riding up n down wif ur screwdriver, it'll work... tats wat i did :mrgreen:

OMG! i have remove mine!!!! i already remove the paper element and my sniper is daily use.. tsk tsk tsk stupid me doing some experiments... how can i put it back or any mods can i do... need help here..
