Below are taken from dansmc.com regarding different colors of sparkplug to determine if you have too lean or too rich air fuel mixture

=================================

The apperance of the firing-end of a spark plug graphically reflects the condition of an engine.

the suitability of the spark plug heat rating and whether or not the carburetor and ignition time are properly adjusted.

This pamphlet is intenede to assist you in correctly choosing your spark plugs and determining the performance condition of your engine.

*Even plugs which present good appearance such as those shown in picture 6-24 can quite often be covered with a lead deposit which causes misfiring.

*Wet plug firing ends such as shown in figures 1-2 are normally attributed to one of the following causes:
1. Excessive choking
2. Trouble within ignition system
3. Oil pumping past worn piston rings and valve guides.

*The causes of sooty plugs like those shown in figure 3,4,5 are usually result of:
1. A spark plug with a too high heat rating is being used and plug firing does not reach its self cleaning temperature (above 400-450 degrees celcius) due to light load conditions.
2. Use of too rich Air Fuel mixture of richer than 8.1-10.1
3. Trouble in the ignition system
4. Improperly functioning cooling system result in excessive cooling.

*THe firing end burns illustrated in figures 25,26,27 may be a result of:

1. Too low heat rating permitting the spark plug to exceed the highest limit for optimum operating temperature of over 850-1000 degrees celcius due to excessively heavy load operations.
2. A too Lean Air Fuel mixture
3. IGiniting timing too over advanced
4. abnormal combustion such as knocking
5. Cooling system trouble which causes engine overheating.

* overheating condidtions shown in figures 28 and 29 are due to instense knocking and pre-ignition following situations identical to those in figures 25,26,27 where increased in temperature of the spark plug firing end results in melting of the electrode.

no 20 -24 good but no veru good to our valve ..hahah ,heat in side combustion chamber may damage valveseat too

Can a spark plug cause that much damage??
yup..coz when hi speed ride your combustion chamber temp.very high ..so better rich. high temp. fuel and air just not only for combust but it also can be a cooler inside combustion chamber. factory setting is for normal using and normal revving engine so there`s no problem at all..hahah think bout it.. lalalalala

I need to study more about these spark plug conditions and materials!
not only that mio, u should study all outs bout engine and tuning, why factory setting different from racing setting and is racing setting very suitable to normal use,and complication during all kinda modification like i said :p

8) i`ll you pictures as well as explanations on cause and effect of what you see when viewing your spark plugs. Look at the spark plug porcelain for the colour and condition of it. Plug colours can tell you how the engine is running and can be very important. Plugs change colours and the different colours can explain such things as if the engine is running too hot or if the engine is worn. The colour should be read by looking at the porcelain insulator and compared to the plugs shown on the next few pictures.

1. A tan coloured plug means that the engine is running normal and the air/fuel mixture is correct. This is the correct colour a spark plug should be and it tells you everything is fine with the engine. You would install a new properly gapped plug. When installing a new plug, replace the old one with the same heat range. This plug shows normal wear in the centre electrode. A new plug would have square edges that helps the plug fire better.

2. This plug is worn out from being used for a long period of time. Notice how the centre electrode is round and worn from use. A spark plug that is worn takes a lot more voltage to fire and can cause poor engine running.

 Excessive detonation has caused the porcelain on this plug to break away. If this engine is allowed to run, engine damage can occur. Make sure the fuel octane is high enough for the engines requirements
