well i tried to keep the rpm low when i did my break in. an eg: I know on an R/C gas engine, for it's break in period you let the engine just run at idel for a full gas tank. i know it's not the same, but i just tried to keep the rpm low, close to almost idel rpm, but not too low to stall out.
for RC engines its depends on da type of engine itself...
if u break in a race engine more likely u gonna do it da hard way ( rev it hard )...
but if u r break in an engine dat was meant for just for fun only so i tink soft break in is more likely ( idle rpm )...
in a new RC race engine da piston n sleve is so damn tite dat lettin it idle when break in will be impossible..coz da engine most likely to stall..its so damn tite dat just to start it gotta use a drill...even after breakin it on high rpm for an hour..u'll still need da drill to start it...very tite very high compression..
for daily bike engine...till today still many pros n cons about break in da engine da hard way...but i choose da hard way..my pals too...my mazda mechs too..so most of da guys i know choose da hard way dan da soft way...revvvv it up baby
