Tyre and Rim

Yesterday after my weekly practise in hill run, bang into a pothole at 50kph until the front rim got bent slightly. :(

I can't pump in the air anymore, went to bike shop and they changed a new tyre for me. The brand called "Duro" <-- dunno wat the heck is this. Tyre size is 70/90 and the foreman put in a tube for me bcoz I refuse to change rim (no $$$ :( )

Anyway, i plan to upgrade my wheel system in a few months time, need to research on it seems i m pretty noob in brands. I wanted to have front 70/90 and rear 80/100. Which tyre brand is good? Besides this, any sport rim which is lighter than the stock? My budget is about USD100.

Sorry to hear about your dilemma charge :(

DURO is a Thai brand, they specialize in offroad and ATV tires, but have OK road tires.

Good tires would be either Dunlops or the Dunlop MAXGRIP series and racing rims from brands such as RIDE IT and YOKO are good, they make alloy lightweight rims and nipples are cheap, you can get those anywhere.

Good luck with your hunt charge.

I'm using Duro, so far the tires performing very well, braking and cornering without a problem.... soft thread also...

experience with dunlop lastime, the thread will become harder and harder by time....

choose wisely....take care

Has anybody here ever used EXCELLA tires? After my Dunlops died on me, I bought a 110/80-17 for my rear and ever since its been perfect. Great at corners, grip, durability and its still got its grip lines after 4 months of use.

Just wondering Tony...r u using tubeless tire...b'cos I considering tubeless....more safety...when...puncture..while riding tubeless....will...let off air..slowly while.....tube..will burst sometimes

Yes I am using tubeless. It's not optional here in Thailand but I found some for my bike. You are right Street Biker, it is better and safer but there is 1 problem, for me, if you get a flat and its late at night or your outside a car infested town like in the country side, its hard work to find a store to fix it since you don't have an inner tube, whereas at a regular bike store they can change the inner tube and bike stores are everywhere...but tubeless is great.

Isn't tubeless for T135 optional in Indonesia and Malaysia?

thanks for your great help miobikerboys and justkir. Wow, Duro seems to be a great brand, hahaha. Yesterday I tried on high speed corner and the bike has a lil oversteering now. THe front tyre overpowers the rear one, it's kinda scary :p

Hmm.. anybody heard of Ichixxxx (forgot the whole name)? It is about USD25 at my place. I noticed it has a deeper side wall and softer thread. Hmm... how about Racing Boy rims? Are they good? So far, I've never seen EXCELLA here. Maybe I'll hunt for one some other days.

Justkir, how long have you been using Duro? What is your front/rear tyre config? 70/90 and 80/100?

arechin, how do u feel after changing to ur current setting, compared to stock?

To me the stock seems slightly understeer if the weight transfer isn't done properly. With my current 70/90 front and 80/90 rear the rear is a bit oversteer :(

hi guys...in my research about tires, duro is a bit hard, maybe a hard compound tire and some riders here in the philippines say its kind a slippery on wet roads but for sure it will last longer than dunlop since its hard. i haven't tried this brand of tire...maybe i'll stick to dunlop...ride safe bro's!

i dont know wat my feeling about the stock..huhu..
coz im changed my tyre juz a few weeks after bought the big bike..
for me,80/90 front n rear bit heavy than stock..its depend on u..
if u like to corner, better change it to bigger tyre front 80/90 n rear 90/80,100/80 or 110/80..
but big tyre also can give u better performance bout topspeed..juz need a ryte combination tyres n sprocket..14/36T sprocket n 80/90 front/rear tyres is better one.

right me if im wrong..
thx..

If you can get a tubeless Dunlop TT900F series then I suggest you go for this bros... The performance is comparatively similar to Michelin but quite cheaper... BTW, Dunlop has a wide variety of sizes just make sure it's not the tubetype one...

i have the tubless and the tube type. you can still install the tube type with out the tube. the bead that locks on the rim is the same as whats on the tubeless. just use the 90/80 on the front and your will be ok,
