i use racing cam...
if by using the racing cam,we have to deepen the valve pocket??
how much in mm did we deepen it??

n also..can i use this setting as bro haen told us
in 0.10
out 0.13

the valve poket have been deepen..can this setting be use??does it decrese the compression or the valve will hit the piston??

i didnt know how my mech setting the valve clearance..but i think he setting it all wrong..can anyone help?
thanks

as what i heard, they measure it ...
i dont know how they measure how deep they go...

probably by instinct and experience ?

yeah probably..
but now my bike seems like a lot of fuel entering the combustion chamber.
n it jerk all time ,,from 1st gear till 4th...
why did this happen??even stock engine n stock jetting..
erm..
confuse here..

back to the question..
if stock cam
in 0.10
out 0.13

but if use the high cm can i set my valve clearance to..
in 0.12 ++
out 0.15 ++

it lil bit same rite??coz high cm produce high lift..

Masters pls show us how to do with valve pocket. I dont know hw do it.Pls show how deep the valve pocket every cams:

1. Stage 1 cam-
2. Stage 2 cam-
3. Yy pang cam-
4. 5.8 lift cam-
5. 6.2 lift cam-
6. 6.3 lift cam-
7. Pan asean cam 6.5mm
lift
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone!
Im reviving this topic bcoz i experienced valve bending due to the HI-LIFT CAMS.

I installed 6.5mm lift and 330 degrees to my stock block and stock head. Then i heard noisy taktak in my engine but i ign0red but after a day using it and testing it my sniper suddenly stopped. So i prefer openning the head and i saw that my intake valve was bend.. and the piston was wrecked bcoz they collide each other.

Pls help me about valve pocketting. How deep to deepen fr0m the stock valve pocket?

Those who experience and done successfully in valve pocketting, pls tell us.... and im very thankful about ur answer. Thank u!

too much lift is the culprit or valve float...the cam ur using has too much lift,,check the piston look for any dent cause by the valve, that is the area you need to port to have a bigger valve pocket, it happened to me, there was a loud "tikitik" because of too much block shaving....

Thank u wvlfonlus!
Now i have to deepen the valve pocket. Maybe my cams is higher a 2mm than the stock cam.
Therefore i need also to deepen a 2mm.

Maybe more accurate if we do a CLAY METHOD.

guys.. if your head cylinder is stock its safe to use 0.10 IN - 0.12-0.15 EX valve clearance...

BUT if you do the squishband or removed cyc. gaskets just to have a high compression better make a valve pocket on your piston.. to measure just use a clay put it on the combustion chamber just to measure where the valve hits to the piston and see how deep it is then you start your valve pocket.

just be safe in doing this.. if you can't do this bring it to a professional mechanic :)

Very nice suggestion! Ill go buy now a molding clay to measure the punch of the pist0n from valve pocket. I read also about h0w to do it the CLAY METH0D.
Thank u!

I read also today fr0m racing internet site that the ideal distance from piston to valve pocket relief are:
- intake 1.5mm
-exaust 2.2mm
and 1.5mm distance fr0m eyebr0w to valve.,
and u need to add .3mm bc0z the steel and aluminum expand when they are in very hot c0nditi0n.
For example: intake is 1.5mm+0.3mm.
I think it is a helpful tips to everyone when they do valve pocketting.

For those who plan to use a hi-lift cam they must kn0w how to use a clay method. Modelling clay is available anywhere who is selling an office and school supplies.

you must use the clay method, the amount of clearance required will depend on things like head gaskets if the head or case have been skimmed. Some other things to consider are the valves , what valve springs are used.

learning through experience but better to learn from the mistakes of others so as not to commit a mistake of your own...di ba?,,hehehe

just a piece of advice when you hear a loud "tikitik|" sound most probably its the piston colliding with the valves.
