mio: what motul oil u want? full synthetic?
arechin: no, 20W-50 is worse than 20W-40. Try to get something like 10W-40. I saw Motul 10W-40 full synthetic for bike. It costs around RM40 - 45 per litre

dude, Motul full synthetic range from USD12 -> 15. I am not sure which rating is the best for 135LC yet. goff_d_p said 10W-40 is too thin for long hour travelling (3 hours+) so i guess 10W-50 is more appropriate. I have tried 10W-40 Hi-rev full synthetic before and it is able to run for 100km with 3/4 throttle in average (on EX5 thou).

What brands do you have at your place? As far as I know, hi-rev, motul, royal purple, , rockoil, ELF are top class oil and well known in racing. Any of the brands will do. I don't really like oil from major petrol companies except Mobil1.

get the elf 10w50. i noticed that my engine is smoother when running, and feels great on acceleration.

am using repsol mineral based now...clutch still has a kick even in third gear, smoother engine too...and it endured a 12 hour engine run...about to get and oil change and thinking of trying the repsol sintetico(semi synthetic oil) and see the result...it cost 10 to 12$ here....

yea goff, high quality synthetic oil like ELF feels damn great! I felt it when changing from Shell to Hi-rev as well. The engine is quieter too.

dude_pare01, u go around phil? 12 hour engine run is crazy :p

arechin, yea, 20W-50 should be fine if u travel damn long distance, because ur ur engine is always running at 100C for a long period. All engine oil regardless of rating and type (mineral, semi or full) has exactly the same viscosity at 100C. Short distance folks should use better rating such as 10W-40 because it reduces wear and tear when engine is cold.

What I meant is, when engine is cold , 10W-40 oil is thinner than 20W-50. However, when 20W-50 and 10W-40 reaches 100C, both of them will have the same rating, 0W-0. All engine oil are designed to operate 0W-0 at 100C. 20W-50 or 10W-40 is just the rating at certain temperature, maybe 0C (not sure abt tis thou).

try the repsol racing, it cost about $14 USD but its worth the price for sure...semi synthetic repsol is also very good...

arechin: welcome dude ;)

dude_pare01: the clutch wont slip if the full synthetic doesnt use friction modifier. Usually this is only used in car engine oil, and they never use in wet clutch bike engine oil. As I mentioned, all engine oil will become 0W-0 at 100C, so regardless it is mineral, semi or full, they are equally thin and the clutch will get the thin oil as well.

The Hi-rev gold and Royal Purple 5W-30 has friction modifer, so my clutch does slipped a lil at very low rpm and very high rpm. however, overall gear shift is smoother bcoz less friction between the clutch plate :p

if the cluth slipping, then did u guys notice that the engine will knocking sound 'kok kok kok' when warming up the engine

nope. the engine warming up is even smoother than before. never hear any 'kok kok kok'. you wont have this problem actually unless you use car engine oil like me :p
