to charge: in sum ways i do feel our speedometers in s'pore r the same as urs in msia.if car drives 100kmh, my bike does feel like 90kmh uh coz i do drive alot n it feels different.i think all small bikes speedometer kinda "light" sumtimes.juz wat i think.
Your engine can rev up to around 11000rpm max, but the maximum horsepower happens around 10000rpm. Let's say you want to stay the RPM around 7500rpm on PLUS highway, please try 40-15. In 4th gear @ 7500rpm, you can travel around 120kph, and able to top about 160kph @ 10,000rpm.

Of course while using 40-15, you get more acceleration than stock sprocket. This means you can actually open less throttle to maintain 120kph --> save petrol.

I've just changed to 15-42. Here's my experience:

1st gear initial acceleration is strong. Before this, 0 - 10kph lost to EX5 because EX5 has very short gears. Now, 0 - 10kph is as fast as EX5, but able to drag until ~40kph. My engine are stock.

Maintaining speed with 4th gear below 90kph is easy when going uphill. I only need 1/4 throttle. Last time I need 1/3 throttle. I believe this sprocket combo is good for urban riding and able to save more petrol.

max speed for each gear (urban riding):
1st - 40kph
2nd - slightly more than 70kph
3rd - slightly more than 100kph
4th - 120kph

From my estimations in page 3,
1st - 39kph
2nd - 73kph
3rd - 103kph
4th - 140kph

Well, 4th gear is not accurate, because after 120kph, my engine does not have enough power to rev up to maximum RPM. It stuck at around 8000RPM. During downhill, I am able to hit 130kph, but it is too scary to go faster on bumpy downhill......

Last time when using 15-39, there is not much torque felt from 2000 - 3000rpm / 8000rpm above. After changing to 15-42, 2000 - 8000rpm accelerates very well.
I found 135lcSS's 135LC has more power at high RPM compared to mine. Damn..I am not sure why my engine lost power after 7000rpm. Dunno if it is CDI or TPS settings problem.

15/40, Ive tried it already but it was actually slower at he top end than my old combination. My tire size is 100/80 rear and 90/80 front by the way. It has an effect Im sure. :) thanks

since you have bigger tires, it will have hard time on accelerating.
you need a gear ration HIGHER than 2.6

from gear ratio tables in page1

13 34 = 2.62
16 42 = 2.63
14 37 = 2.64
15 40 = 2.67

go one step at a time to see which one fits well with your new tire.
