both rods are cast,remeber that forging requires to molds of many stages to form a specified material billet,meaning to say the the mould have to be CNCed,so the finish of the product should have a regular or consistant finish,one of the most obvious give away with a forged part is the quality of the fonts,they are very clear and precisce,i think they are stampings behind the t135 piston which is forged,compare the finish quality of the piston to a cast one and there is a big difference.the rough surface on the rods is a process called shot peening where by ball bearings are shot on to the rods creating miniture dents,which forgeds the surface making the rods stronger...
